"The General Society of Mayflower Descendants is working to get the U.S. Mint to issue a commemorative coin for the 400th anniversary of the pilgrims’ landing in Plymouth. To learn more about this coin program, please check this website: http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/?action=commemoratives
Congressional approval must be obtained to issue a commemorative coin, and the process begins by passing a bill in the House of Representatives. This is where we need your help. Congressman Bill Foster (Illinois) will be introducing a bill in next Congress to commission a commemorative coin in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the pilgrims. He will need many co-sponsors for this bill. Please contact your Representative to ask him or her to co-sponsor that bill...This effort is time sensitive, since the new Congress will convene in January.
You can look up contact information for your Representative by going to www.house.gov and entering your zip-code. If your Representative was just elected for the first time, you will need to find that address locally. Thank you in advance for asking your Representative to co-sponsor this bill."
So, if you care about Mayflower history or colonial American history, this is your chance to do something about it!
