![]() I got an email from the Historian of Scrooby Manor in Nottinghamshire asking for help for plans to fund a visitor's center to improve the experience of tourists who want to get in touch with their Brewster and Bradford ancestors or just learn more about the Separatist movement of the early 1600s. After previous unsuccessful efforts a group called the Pilgrim Fathers' UK Origins Association has identified a 200-year-old barn near the Pilgrim Fathers Pub, right on the main road, as a good site. To gain approval from the local governing authority they need to show why a visitor's center is needed and how it would improve things. They are asking anyone who has travelled to Scrooby to send an email stating "why such a Heritage/Visitor Center is so desperately needed to honor and perpetuate the story of the Scrooby Separatists many of who went on to become Mayflower Pilgrims." They need these letters before the meeting sometime "next month" (December 2013.) If you have been to Scrooby, please write something and email it to: Sue Allen, admin@mayflowermaid.com. Thank you!

This is still a major pain in the a**. My affiliations for fold3.com and Genealogy bank have mysteriously expired somehow. I will try to track that down. I have added more links to amazon and they now have specific, very stuffy verbiage I have to use to proclaim this affiliation to the planet. It adds nothing, just makes me sound like a pompous windbag. I have applied for affiliation with Abe Books, which looks like a very plain vanilla deal (amazon gets more complex by the hour) and will work well for the new "suggested reading" section because some of those books I suggest are out of print and can't be bought even on amazon. Abe Books is affiliated with amazon somehow but the books are weirder, apparently. They have the identical Pompous Windbag statement I have to stick somewhere on my site. If you are reading this, please go click on all the ads on every page, then go to my son's blogspot page (whyruntothetardis) and click on all of his. We do not earn a penny until the "earnings" hit the $100 mark and meanwhile are out for things like domain registration, high-speed internet (which we would have anyhow, granted) and for me, the occasional fee to use a photograph.
