Another milestone

A Pilgrim lineage finally hit the 100 mark today, that of John Alden & Priscilla (Mullins) Alden. We still have a few laggards, though, in the single-digit marks, and there is a big gap between the Alden-Mullinses and the second place pack: Brewster, Cooke, Hopkins, and Warren (51-60.)

In case you are wondering about Google Adsense

It is slow and in no way comes close to covering the cost of buying and renewing domain names, having an email account with extra storage, mileage, photo reprint rights, scanning (25 cents per page, same as a paper copy at the LOC and NARA), to say nothing of one's time, but Google AdSense is for real, meaning that they eventually do send you a check. In this case it took 26 months to hit that $100 threshold that generates a check. (Thank you for clicking on my ads!)  Sci-fi fans are apparently not so "clickish" so if you like Dr. Who, Sherlock, Hunger Games, or DC and Marvel comics please visit http://whyruntothetardis.blogspot.com/, which has "All your fandom. All in one place." It is outstanding, not just because it's my son's site, but as a fan myself, I appreciate that it is constantly updated and fresh. "Fandom" must heartlessly cruise the internet with ad blockers in place, though, because his visitors don't click enough to satisfy Google. Too bad, as they are missing the chance to support a really dynamic site.

Civil War buffs: your help is needed

I have found images of two descendants of Richard More, brought with his 3 siblings to the New World among total strangers. He was the only one of the More children to survive and have children of his own. Unfortuntely the images I have are from a digitized books with ok text but abominable photos. Paper copies of this book are rare and not all archives allow scanning even if I find a copy some day. Both of these descendants were killed in the Civil War, though, so I am hoping someone who has photos of their units can help us out.

Here is what we need:
William Allen Andrews, Jr., b. Essex, MA 1845, enlisted Dec. 22, 1861 at age 16. He joined Co. H, 19th MA Vols. and was in the Battles of the Peninsula and White Oak Swamp (June 30, 1862), wounded in the latter. The family received no further information and he was presumed dead.
Charles Perry Lufkin, his first cousin, b. Essex, MA 1843, enlisted at age 17 or 18, in 1861. He was mustered into the 24th Regt., MA Vols. that year and assisted in the capture of Ft. Henry,  Roanoke Island on Feb. 6 1862 and then at New Berne, NC on March 14, 1862. Other battles in which he particpated were said to be those at Laurel Hill, Kingston, Whitehall, and Goldsboro, NC, and at James and Morris Islands on the "Secret Expedition" to SC. and he was wounded at the assault on Ft. Wagner, SC on July 25, 1863. He died at Beaufort Hospital.

If you can help, please use the "Share Your Images" link at the left. Thank you!

Milestone and Index

I have finished the index and all the links should be in working order. Thus the heading for the Index page no longer says "under construction." I accidentally wiped out one or two people and still have to reconstruct their entries. I also want to belatedly note another milestone: the 300th distinct Pilgrim descendant, accomplished some 24 descendants ago. Because I was unsure of the actual count as I redid the index and created the corresponding new Tallies page, I didn't want to say there were 300 if there were not. As of today, 324 people have their picture on this site (some in multiple places.)

I hope you enjoy perusing this web site and find it helpful. I do intend to go back and flesh out the terse entries and crop/enlarge some of the
