Plimoth Plantation has an interesting fundraiser this Saturday

It's well known that the Pilgrims made and consumed beer but apparently a dedicated researcher at Plimoth Plantation - well known for its reenactors who remain in character no matter what - has discovered there were distillers among them as well. Their spring fundraiser is "Living Proof: Celebrating the Makers" this Saturday the 29th, from 6 to 9 pm. Eight distilleries, a brewery, a "meadery," live music, "educators," and 4 food vendors will make for a festive occasion. This is specifically to raise funds for their educational and classroom activities. The web site has info on prices and tickets.

This beautiful scale model of the Mayflower will be up for silent auction tomorrow, Sunday April 23rd, at the Arizona Mayflower Society annual meeting. It measures about 16" long, 16" high, and 7" wide. This was the model on display at the Compact Day meeting in November. It has since acquired a display case.

Welcome aboard, Branch Harlow. He is the 100th descendant of Isaac, Mary (Norris), and Mary Allerton featured on these pages. He is also a descendant of passenger Richard Warren. Check out his write-ups and image in the Allerton and Warren sections. Branch was a Gen 6 Allerton descendant and Gen 7 Warren (twice.)

Connecticut State Library digital collection

I saw an article in the newspaper this morning about the CT State Library digitizing WWI documents and photos that residents bring there, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the US entry into WWI. I had hoped some of those images were online already, but alas, no. However, I did spot a Digital Collection link. The "Account Books, Diaries, and Journals" section turned out to have just 3 items, and the aerial photography and blizzard of 1888 sections are unlikely to be very useful for someone seeking facial photos of Mayflower descendants. However, if muttonchops run in your family you might spot some kin in the "Portraits" section because it contains individual and group photos of state legislators from the 1840s onward. Most images appeared to be from the 1860s, and none I saw were female. Still, if you think you have a CT legislator in your family, this might be worth a look. It seemed like every page on the site had a link to CT's laws on reproducing the images elsewhere, like on your web site or in a family history you are writing for the next reunion, so please do read their policy and follow it. For 19th century photos  it is mostly a matter of just giving the Library credit in your credit line, which it deserves.
