If you are descended from anyone who shipped aboard a whaler you are eligible to become a member of Descendants of Whaling Masters. There are membership levels depending on whether your ancestor was the captain or the deck swabber. On their web site, if you click on "research" you go to "researching your ancestors" which has nothing to do with that topic as far as I can see. However, it does have several portraits of whaling masters and some wives from the late 1700s and early 1800s. The second person, Capt. Job Terry, Jr. is a Generation 7 descendant with two lines to Thomas Rogers on his father's side. The new Rogers Silver Book will get you to his father, Job Terry. Then, click through until you get to Susan Bowerman (Taber) West, daughter of George S. Taber and Susan Bowerman. (The New Bedford VR of their marriage calls him "Capt. George," no "S". They married in 1806.) Susan Taber and her father George should be Cooke descendants. However, I can't find this George's parents, let alone anyone beyond that. Capt. George [S.] Taber might be in the 2-volume Taber genealogy but it's not online in downloadable format on internet archive and the version on Heritage Quest is not searchable. If you can get George's parents, I can find out which generation Cooke Susan is and whether she has any other Pilgrim ancestors.
Dr. Maura Mackowski is an Arizona research historian who enjoys the challenge of looking for Mayflower descendants, hers and anyone else's.
