Westport Historical Society photos online

I do not know if they allow use of their images on web sites like this so I will be cautious until I find out and just post a link to their site. It is confusing to navigate, and I've been doing this for decades and used to write for a well-known online service provider. Here is the link to Random Images, which is where you go to browse and just see what they have. That is honestly your best bet, though slow. There is no page with just a search box, where you type what you want and get hits, then pick the hit. "Advanced Search" will not turn up the photo you just saw in the Random Images section. If you know exactly what you  want you can do a "Keyword Search" but must use "quote marks" for a phrase or for a first and last name, and choose "items with images only" to avoid getting hundreds of hits. You can experiment with the other pages but you will see what I mean. This used to be a very basic site and it's "new and improved to serve you better." Anyway, as an example, IF this is the correct Asa Howland - and assuming the photo was identified correctly - enter "Asa Howland" image-only, and you will see him and wife "Nancy." If it is the Asa and Nancy from Conway, there is no explanation as to why they would be in a Westport museum. I found no connection working backwards but maybe his or her descendants migrated there. (I think I will donate my whaler great-grandfather's photo to a nice museum in Arizona.) If this is who I am guessing it is, one Gen 7/8 line runs John, Job, John, John, John, John; a second runs John, Hannah (Jenkins) Howland, Benjamin Jenkins, Lydia (Howland) Jenkins, Joseph Howland, John of the Mayflower. Without confirmation this is the correct person in the photo, I won't check on other lines. Other surnames with potential are Sherman, Sisson, Handy, Gifford, Ellis, Packard, Seabury, Snow, Davol, Brownell, Macomber, White, Hathaway, Mosher, and Tripp.
