BISBEE, George Dana, George Washington, Louise, Mary Louise, Spaulding, Stanley

The book with these photos claimed Howland-Tilley descent (only) for this family but someone had the wrong Howland and missed the Samuel Fuller, Eaton, Billington, Priest, Warren, and double Allerton lines. If you are a descendant and can get vital records out of Maine, you can join the Mayflower Society on those six lines. Entries on MayflowerFaces are in alphabetical order. In birth order, these Bisbees run as the following 4 generations: George Washington Bisbee (1812-1872), son George Dana Bisbee (b 1841), grandchildren Stanley (b 1867) & Mary Louise (Mrs. Everett R. Josselyn, b 1873), great grandchildren Spaulding (b 1890) & Louise (b 1896), children of Stanley. G. W. Bisbee was a Gen 9 descendant of Samuel Fuller thanks to his mother, not the Bisbees, as follows: Joanna (Sturtevant) Bisbee, Isaac Sturtevant, William, Sarah (Fuller) Sturtevant, Nathaniel Fuller, Samuel, Samuel, Dr. Samuel of the Mayflower. You can calculate the rest on your own and see their other lines in the other pilgrim sections. Image & misleading info (except for the dates & places) from Alfred Cole & Charles H. Whitman, A History of Buckfield, Oxford County, Maine, from the Earliest Explorations to the Close of the Year 1900 (Lewiston, ME: CF Whitman, 1915), pp. 337-41, 531-41. (Author Charles Whitman was the Clerk of the Court for Oxford County, so had access to good local records.) Digitized by the New York Public Library.

BOYDEN, EDWARD ALLEN & ETHEL

Siblings Ethel (b 1879) and Edward A. (b 1886) were the children and grandchildren of the father & son heads of Bridgewater Normal School (now Bridgewater State University in Plymouth County, MA. Ethel, Class of 1902, appears in this 1899 group photo and Edward is in his 1905 baseball team photo. Neither appear to have married. In addition to being surgeon Fuller descendants, they were Alden-Mullins, Billington, Brown, Eaton, and Hopkins descendants. (See those sections on this website for the other lines & other photos of Edward.) Their Gen 10 S Fuller line runs: Catherine C[hipman] (Allen) Boyden, Betsy (Babbitt) Allen, Joannah Tilden (Fuller) Bassett, Consider Fuller, Ezra, John, Samuel, Samuel, Dr. Samuel Fuller of the Mayflower. Several silver books get as far as Consider, son of Ezra & Elizabeth (Weston) Fuller. I did not spot any obvious Howland link to their mother but it is worth looking for a genealogical origin of her Chipman middle name. Images from the Historical Photographs Collection, Bridgewater State University Library, and posted online by Digital Commonwealth. You can see a 1935 photo of Edward, who became a distinguished professor of anatomy, on the Smithsonian Institution's website as well. His WWI draft card stated that he was 5'9" tall, weighed 180 lbs, had "blonde" hair and "gray" eyes.

BRIGGS, VELZORA

Velzora (b. Taunton 1897) is in the 1930 federal census as a registered nurse in Fall River, MA but whether she left descendants or had siblings who did is up to the reader to find out. In spite of a 2-generation foray into Hampshire Co, MA,, it was not hard to find 5 Mayflower lines thanks to the NEHGS (americanancestors.org) and the Mayflower Society silver books, which are partially digitized there under license. See the Priest, Eaton, White, and Soule sections for those lines; there could be more pilgrims in her family tree. Velzora's Gen 10 Samuel Fuller line runs as follows, beginning with her mother: Lucy M. (Eaton) Briggs, Rollin B. Eaton, Rollin, John, John, Lydia (Fuller) Eaton, John Fuller, Samuel, Dr. Samuel of the Mayflower. You will want to get some land records on familysearch.org to augment the probate and vital records on the NEHGS site to strengthen the Rollin Sr.-John Jr.-John part due to the relocation. Image from The Journal (Taunton High School, 1917, p. 10, digitized on the  Internet Archive.

Picture
BUMPUS, EDWARD AVERY

Army lieutenant Edward (1875-1901) was a Generation 10 Fuller, as was his brother Chauncey, below.
See their Allerton writeups for more details, but the brothers were also Allerton, Chilton, Howland-Tilley, Billington, and Eaton descendants.Their line to Samuel Fuller runs as follows:  father Everett Cephas Bumpus, Cephas Cushman Bumpus, Lydia (Cushman) Bumpus, Lydia (Fuller) Cushman, Capt. Josiah Fuller, Ebenezer, Samuel, Samuel, Samuel. Image from Everett C. Bumpus, In Memoriam (for the love I bear my dead) (Norwood, MA: Norwood Press, 1902), frontispiece.

Picture
BUMPUS, EVERETT CEPHAS

Father of Edward Avery (above) & Everett Chauncey (below) and sadly the author of their memorial, Everett C. was a Gen. 9 Samuel Fuller descendant and an Allerton, Billington, S. Fuller, Howland-Tilley, Eaton, and Chilton descendant. See the Allerton write-ups of all 3 for the details and full photo credits, and see either son's writeup here for the lineage to Samuel Fuller of the Mayflower. In the photo on the left he is about 55 and on the right he is about 20, younger than his sons. Images from Thomas Crane Public Library in Quincy, MA, courtesy of Digital Commonwealth & from "Civil War," Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division, Washington D.C. If you know where to look, you can see another photo of then-Lt. Bumpus at the Lincoln Cottage in NW Washington, D.C. (Hint: he's the soldier on the right atop the bunker, in a photo identifying them as Co. K instead of F.)

Picture
BUMPUS, EVERETT CHAUNCEY

Like his brother Edward, Chauncey (1873-1901) was a Generation 10 Fuller on his father's side. See their Allerton writeups for more details, but the brothers were also Allerton, Chilton, Howland-Tilley, Billington, and Eaton descendants. Their line to Samuel Fuller runs as follows:  father Everett Cephas Bumpus, Cephas Cushman Bumpus, Lydia (Cushman) Bumpus, Lydia (Fuller) Cushman, Capt. Josiah Fuller, Ebenezer, Samuel, Samuel, Samuel. Image from Everett C. Bumpus, In Memoriam (for the love I bear my dead) (Norwood, MA: Norwood Press, 1902), p. 117.

CANEDY, ZEBULON LEONARD

First cousin once removed of Bradford Lebaron Church, below, Zebulon (born William Z. Canedy on Feb. 5, 1864) was quite a bit older and also a Samuel Fuller, Billington, and Eaton descendant but not a Bradford or Warren. A farmer, per an 1899 town directory he was overseer of the poor for Lakeville, Plymouth Co., MA and according to the info with this 1909 photo, he advanced to the state legislature. Zebulon did not marry but he had at least one half sibling, Adrianna B. Canedy, b c. 1851, who did. Thus there may be descendants via Adrianna B. & Charles W. Sampson of Lakeville. Beginning with their father, this Gen 9 line runs: William Canedy, Zebulon Leonard Canedy, William, William, Elizabeth (Eaton) Canedy, Elizabeth (Fuller) Eaton, Samuel Fuller, Dr. Samuel Fuller of the ship Mayflower. Fortunately these Canedys were good about probate records so it was not difficult to tell the Williams apart. Image from Digital Commonwealth courtesy the New Bedford (MA) Free Public Library, home of The Whaleman Statue ("Dead Whale or a Stove Boat.")

Picture
CARPENTER, RHODA

This picture is from a genealogy of the Carpenters of Rehoboth, MA that is very difficult to use for my purposes (each individual is assigned 2 numbers and relationships are not visually displayed in a meaningful format.) Furthermore, findagrave has totally fouled up her mother's line and has her supposed grandfather dying alone in an almshouse in NY City when he actually  lived out his golden years in Bristol Co, MA and left nice bequests in his will to his widow and children. Not that Rhoda was related to those people. Her mother was of the Plymouth County Hathaways who lit out for Savoy, Berkshire Co, with a herd of their Friends, Associates, and Neighbors, to be written up in an 1829 history of that county, when they were still alive. This family also has some good military pension records and probate records. Rhoda turns out to be a relative of Zebulon Canedy, above, and Bradford LeBaron Church, below. Like them, she is also an Eaton and Billington but also a Doty, Soule, and Alden-Mullins descendant. Rhoda (1827-1875) was the youngest of 11 and the mother of 3, as the second wife of Caleb W. Clark. Her sons contributed to the book and there is lots of detail about their aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her Gen 8 SFuller line begins with her mother, as follows: Rhoda (Hathaway) Carpenter, Mercy (Williams) Hathaway, Mercy (Canedy) Williams, Elizabeth (Eaton) Canedy, Elizabeth (Fuller) Eaton, Samuel Fuller, Dr. Samuel Fuller of the Mayflower. See the other sections for those lineages. Image & info from Amos B. Carpenter, A Genealogical History of the Rehoboth Branch of the Carpenter Family in America (Amherst: Carpenter & Morehouse, 1898), pp. 194, 321-3, digitized by the Boston Public Library.

Picture
CHURCH, BRADFORD LEBARON

He went by LeBaron, but yes, he was a Bradford, also a triple Warren, an Eaton, Billington, and Samuel Fuller descendant, related to others on the same pages, including Z. L. Canedy, above. Possibly there is a Soule line in there as well. Maybe he was exceptionally competent or maybe he just peaked early, but LeBaron (b 1899) captained the first unbeaten football team at Taunton High School (photo on right), won the top rank in the cadet corps (major) competitively, and was class president before heading for Amherst College. In other words, there might be more pictures of him as an adult. LeBaron's Gen 10 S. Fuller line runs through his mother as follows: Carrie E (Canedy) Church, Salmon Snow Canedy, Zebulon L., William Jr., William, Elizabeth (Eaton) Canedy, Elizabeth (Fuller) Eaton, Samuel Fuller, Dr. Samuel of the Mayflower. See the other pilgrim sections for those lineages. Image & info from The Journal (Taunton High School, 1917, pp. 12, 54, 55, 58, digitized on the  Internet Archive.

COOMBS, JOHN COLBY

Attorney John C. Coombs (b. 1845, ME) was noted in the book that contained this photo as a descendant of pilgrim Francis Eaton and Sarah (---), his first wife and also a Mayflower passenger, via his mother, daughter of Solomon "Squire/Esquire" Eaton. Solomon and John's mother and father turned out to be documented in the Bowden, ME vital records which are on the NEHGS site. The author did not note his descent from Dr. Samuel Fuller, though, or the Billington family. (See the Eaton and Billington sections for those lineages.) John's Gen. 8 S. Fuller line runs: Abigail (Eaton) Coombs, Solomon Eaton, Ziba, Barnabas, Elizabeth (Fuller) Eaton, Samuel Fuller, Dr. Samuel of the Mayflower. The birth of Solomon and the family's move to Bowdoinham, ME is in the Eaton and S. Fuller silver books. Image & info from Conrad Reno, Memoirs of the Judiciary and the Bar of New England for the Nineteenth Century with a History of the Judicial System of New England, Vol. I (Boston: Century Memorial, 1900), p. 97, digitized by the Boston Public Library.

Picture
CRAPO, L. LUCILLE

There were not as many vital records as I would have liked for Lucille personally (I never found out what the L. stood for) but she was born 1899-1900, per the 1920 federal census. She shares a great-great grandmother with classmate Harold W. Shedd, below, 10 years her senior, and like him was a Samuel Fuller, Billington, and Eaton descendant. They would be 3rd cousins. Lucille's grandfather and was the father of Hattie Adeline Crapo, a classmate 2 years older, thanks to a late 2nd marriage, so Hattie does not grace these 3 pages, only the Soule & White, where you will also find Lucille again. Lucille's Gen 10 S. Fuller line runs: Francis Simmons Crapo, Nicholas, Hannah (Godfrey) Crapo, Dordana (Pierce) Godfrey, Hannah (Canedy) Pierce/Peirce/Pearce, Elizabeth (Eaton) Canedy/Canaday/Canady/Kennedy, Elizabeth (Fuller) Eaton, Samuel Fuller, Dr. Samuel of the Mayflower. The genealogical info is from the New England Historic and Genealogical Society (NEHGS)'s site, American Ancestors. The image was from Taunton High School Journal and Stylus (1917), 13, on Internet Archive.

Picture
CUSHMAN, JOSEPH AUGUSTINE

This picture is from a group photo of the Bridgewater Normal School (college) 1900 baseball team. Vital records for Joseph can be found fairly easily on the NEHGS site. The 1900 census was the first clue that his father and mother were both in their second marriages. If you are a descendant of Joseph's "brother" Albert (b. 1866), HIS mother was Elvina Thompson, a possible Cooke and/or Brown descendant. Albert would not have the Priest, Soule, S. Fuller, and Howland-Tilley ancestry that Joseph did. (See the Allerton, Priest, Cooke, Soule, and Howland-Tilley sections for Joseph's other lines.) Beginning with his mother, Joseph's Gen 10 S. Fuller line runs: Jane Frances (Fuller) (Pratt) Cushman, Alfred Fuller, Nathan, Chipman, Ebenezer, Ebenezer, John, Samuel, Dr. Samuel Fuller of the Mayflower. Image from the Historical Photographs Collection, Bridgewater State University Library, online courtesy Digital Commonwealth.

Picture
DOGGETT, PEREZ FOBES

Medical doctor Perez Fobes Doggett was a Generation 7 descendant of medical doctor Samuel Fuller of the Mayflower. He was born in Taunton, 1806 to Rev. Simeon Doggett of Middleborough and Nancy Fobes of Raynham, daughter of Rev. Perez Fobes (who married the couple) and Prudence Wales. His Fuller line is: Simeon, Simeon, Joanna (Fuller) Doggett, John, Samuel, Dr. Samuel. The Samuel Fuller Silver Book gets as far as the birth of the younger Simeon Doggett, and the NEHGS takes it from there. The book from which this image and info comes mentions a couple of family members who owned Fuller heirlooms. Hopefully those are now in the Pilgrim Hall Museum in Plymouth. Image and info from Samuel Bradlee Doggett, A History of the Doggett-Daggett Family (Boston: Rockwell & Churchill, 1894), pp. 419, 450, digitized by the Allen County (IN) Public Library.

Picture
FULLER, ALBERT H.

Albert's photo is in the Brockton, MA library's collection (in Plymouth County) and was digitized for DigitalCommonwealth. He is a descendant of Samuel Fuller, Francis Eaton, Francis Cooke, Edward Doty, John Alden, John Billington, George Soule, Myles Standish, William Mullins, and Stephen Hopkins, with pilgrims on both sides of his family. The Samuel Fuller silver book from the General Society of Mayflower Descendants (GSMD) gets as far as the birth of his great grandfather, John Fuller and his marriage to Betty/Betsy Smith. That is pretty good for people with plain names, but Part Two of the Billington silver book set gets the farthest, to the marriage of Albert's paternal grandparents, Consider Fuller and Mercy Thompson. The vital records on the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) site gets you the rest of the way. Starting with his father, Albert's Gen 9 line should run: Charles T. Fuller, Consider, John, Issachar, John, Samuel, Samuel, Dr. Samuel of the Mayflower. You can get a better look online. See the other sections for Albert's other lines. At least one of them must have a really good sideburns gene. Image from the Brockton Public Library thanks to DigitalCommonwealth.

Picture
FULLER, GEORGE A.

The description in the book from which this image was taken states only that George was a direct descendant of Samuel Fuller of the Mayflower, that his parents were Andrew J. Fuller and Fidelia Butterfield, and he was born at Pittsfield on 16 Sep. 1859 (actually 1858), arriving in Acushnet in 1875. He does appear to be a Gen. 9 descendant once you untangle things. Since this book has so far been very accurate, I suspect Mr. Fuller didn't know the specifics himself, just what had been passed on. My experience is that in most cases oral tradition is correct. VRs indicate that George's father was indeed Andrew J. but his mother was Fidelia and/or Nancy and she was from Kennebec Co., Maine.  The marriage record shows that Andrew was much older and it was his 2d marriage. Andrew's father, Asa, also turned out to have been married twice, and his father was "Zeber" or "Heber," depending on which source you use. There was no trace of such a person on NEHGS. I suspect given the time and place (Bristol County), he was actually "Ziba," who does appear in the Silver Book. (Think JFK and "Cuber.") According to articles in the MD, much research was required to trace Ziba's father Simeon because he moved to VT and back and never wrote home. Assuming this to be correct, the line turns out to be: Andrew J. Fuller, Asa, Ziba, Simeon, Samuel, John, Samuel, Samuel of the Mayflower. Simeon's wife was a Samson descendant, so see that writeup for more information. Image from Franklyn Howland, A History of the Town of Acushnet (New Bedford: author, 1907), p. 293, digitized by the Library of Congress.

Picture
FULLER, JOHN HAROLD

This Fuller is likewise mentioned as a descendant of "the Pilgrims of the Mayflower," indicating the family memory was fuzzy, and he was of the branch that went to Vermont at least by 1788 and never wrote home. The specific father of his great-grandfather Samuel is a bit speculative, partly because the silver book is silent, but based on censuses and year of marriage only 1 son of Archippus Fuller could have been the father of a male who married in 1796. That is the oldest son, Consider, and he was born by 1755 based on the census, probably by 1750 based on his son's age, and therefore probably the only child by Archippus's first wife, Mary Pratt. So, this is my Gen 10 line, and I'm sticking to it, beginning with John's father: Jonathan Kingsley Fuller, Samuel Freeman Fuller, Samuel, Consider, Archippus, Seth, Samuel, Samuel, Samuel of the Mayflower. (Seriously, any time you run into a Fuller family with lots of Samuels, they are likely descendants of Dr. Samuel of the Mayflower, not Edward.) For his Eaton, Cooke, Soule, and Billington lines, see those sections. See also his father's image and writeup, below. Image & a little info from William H. Jeffrey, Successful Vermonters: A Modern Gazetteer of Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans Counties (East Burke, VT: Historical Publishing, 1904), pp. 270-271, digitized by the Allen County (IN) Public Library.

Picture
FULLER, JONATHAN KINGSLEY

See his son John Harold Fuller's writeup and image, above, for the Gen 9 lineage and other Pilgrim ancestors. Jonathan was written up in a different volume of Successful Vermonters, and at least knew his Fuller ancestor was specifically Samuel. His writeup also gave his father's middle name, which I inserted into John's writeup. The book states that Rev. Fuller was born 13 May 1848 in Montgomery, VT. None of these digitized images looks "good" but the Rev. looks touched up around the eyes. Better images are always appreciated. Image and some info from William H. Jeffrey, Successful Vermonters: A Modern Gazetteer of Lamoille, Franklin, and Grand Isle Counties (East Burke, VT: Historical Publishing, 1907), pp. 120-2, digitized by the Allen County (IN) Public Library.

KINGMAN - LEWIS, ISAAC, SETH & RUTH

The next time you are in northwestern Arizona, specifically the city of Kingman, please stop by the Mohave Museum of History and Arts and thank them for contributing TIF versions of these pictures (above) and permitting MayflowerFaces.com to publish them. Lewis was a Massachusetts-born civil engineer for Atlantic & Pacific Railroad and built the line from Flagstaff, AZ to Needles, CA, passing through what became Kingman. His wikipedia writeup goes on to say that Kingman was named for him, "as he had brought transportation and subsequently settlement to isolated areas." Many photos of Lewis that I found showed him with the inevitable 19th century beard but the Mohave Museum of History and Arts had this one of Lewis in 1868, age 24, plus a standing portrait (likewise unbearded) and even a toddler photo. His Samuel Fuller and one Francis Cooke lines run through his father Isaac (1811-1885) but look for his mother Sybil Ames (1822-1909) on the Doty and Cooke pages. Lewis was a Gen 8 SFuller as follows: Isaac Kingman, Zilphah (Edson) Kingman, Reliance (Fuller) Edson, Isaac Fuller, Isaac, Samuel, Samuel of the Mayflower. See the other sections for those lines. (See if you agree that Lewis looks more like his Ames mother.)  Images courtesy of the Mohave Museum of History and Arts, #s 1925 (Lewis), 5057 (Isaac), and 5031 (Seth & Ruth in 1907).

Knowles, Thomas H.

Picture
Thomas H. Knowles, son of Thomas Knowles and Mary Keith Eaton, was a Generation 8 Samuel Fuller descendant, Generation 8 Eaton, and Generation 9 Billington via his mother. The Eaton Silver Book gets as far as Generation 6, the individual I believe to be his maternal grandfather, Solomon Eaton. This is based on the 1881 New Bedford death record of a "Mary R. Knowles," widow, b. Middleboro, daughter of Solomon ___ and Clara K ____ of Middleboro. Per the book from which this photo was taken, that was the year Thomas H.'s mother died, as a widow, they lived in New Bedford, and she was from Middleboro. Voila. (Corrections welcome.) Earlier Eaton males married Martha Billington and Elizabeth Fuller. Image from Representative Men and Old Families of Southeastern Massachusetts, v. I (Chicago: J. M. Beers, 1912), p. 194, digitized by the Boston Public Library.

Packard, Frederick

Picture
"Big Fred" Packard, shoe magnate, was born in Brockton 1836 and died there in 1910. He was a Generation 8 descendant of Samuel Fuller and a Generation 9 Francis Cooke descendant. Both lineages were via his father's mother, Susannah (Edson) Packard. She appears in the Samuel Fuller Silver Book as the child of Reliance Fuller, Generation 5 (Isaac 4-3, Samuel 2-1) and Josiah Edson. In the Cooke Silver Book you will find Josiah as Generation 6 via his mother Esther (Allen) Edson, who married James Edson. Esther's lineage was via her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary (Reed) Allen, Esther (Tomson) Reed, and Mary (Cooke) Tomson. Info and image from Representative Men and Old Families of Southeastern Massachusetts, v. I (Chicago: J. M. Beers, 1912), pp. 111-14, digitized by the Boston Public Library.

Picture
PERKINS, ELIJAH EATON

Civic-minded merchant Elijah was a descendant of Dr. Samuel Fuller, Francis Eaton, and Degory Priest thanks to his namesake maternal grandfather. Born in Middleborough, MA in 1804, he was the son of Azel Perkins and grandson of Isaac Perkins, who was in Middleborough, MA by the mid 1760s, but I cannot place him before his marriage to Joanna Edson in North Bridgewater in 1754. I mention this because there are other Isaac Perkinses in the area and other Perkinses who are Mayflower descendants. For now, we will go with Elijah's maternal line. His Gen. 7 Dr. Samuel Fuller line runs: Lucretia (Eaton) Perkins, Elijah Eaton, Lydia (Fuller) Eaton, John Eaton, Samuel, Samuel of the Mayflower. The birth and marriage of Elijah's mother is in the S. Fuller and Eaton silver books. Image and a tiny bit of information from Thomas Weston, History of the Town of Middleboro, Massachusetts (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1906), p. 410, digitized by the Library of Congress.

PRINCE - NOAH, ARDELIA H., CHARLES H., & HENRY C.

The youngest, Gen 9 Henry C. Prince (b 1866, far right) joined the Mayflower Society in 1813 as a Brewster descendant, according to the authors of this book. I wonder if he knew about the other 4 Mayflower lines. From left to right, the following are grandfather Noah (b 1797), his daughter Ardelia H. (b 1835), her younger brother Charles Henry (b 1837), and Charles's son Henry Charles (b 1866), all descendants of Samuel Fuller, the Billingtons, Francis Eaton, Stephen Hopkins, and yes, William & Mary Brewster. See those other sections for the lineage. The S. Fuller silver book gets to the birth of Noah's father Job in 1765 but the whole group appears well documented so you should be able to join the General Society of  Mayflower Descendants (GSMD) on Henry's 1913 paperwork (that you update) or any of these other lines. Beginning with Noah's father, his Gen 7 S. Fuller line runs: Job Prince, Deborah (Fuller) Prince, John Fuller, Samuel, Samuel, Samuel of the Mayflower. Images & info from Alfred Cole & Charles H. Whitman, A History of Buckfield, Oxford County, Maine, from the Earliest Explorations to the Close of the Year 1900 (Lewiston, ME: CF Whitman, 1915), pp. 268-71, 273-7, 317. (Author Charles Whitman was the Clerk of the Court for Oxford County, so had access to good local records. Beware of what is said about pre-Buckfield ancestry, though.) Digitized by the New York Public Library. Their closest relatives on this page (though not very close) are the Bisbees, above, also of Buckfield. Note all 4 Princes have dark brown eyes, as does GW Bisbee, and many others on this page. A clue to Samuel or Mrs. Fuller's looks?
Picture
ROBINSON, MORRILL

There was nothing in the book with this photo to help identify Dr. Morrill Robinson's  pilgrim ancestors but eventually I found him to be a descendant of Samuel Fuller, Francis Eaton, and the Billingtons. See the other sections for those write-ups. The Fuller silver book get to the birth and marriage of his mother, once you stumble onto the Samuel Fuller link. The birth and death dates were included (1803-1873 and birth place, South Raynham.) Eventually he turned out to be a Gen 7 S. Fuller as follows: Hannah (Pierce) Robinson, Hannah (Canedy) Pierce, Elizabeth (Eaton) Canedy, Elizabeth (Fuller) Eaton, Samuel Fuller, Dr. Samuel of the Mayflower. Dr. Robinson also served in the legislature (1842-3)  so there may be a better image of him somewhere else. This image & some info from Thomas Weston, History of the Town of Middleboro, Massachusetts (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1906), pp. 241, 414-5, digitized by the Library of Congress.

Picture
ROLLINS, ANNA ELIZABETH

See Anna's Brown/Browne writeup for more details & tips about her genealogy, including possible 2nd Samuel Fuller line. Anna was also a Cooke and Howland descendant. Her Gen 7 Samuel Fuller line runs as follows: Betsey F. (Thompson) Rollins, Elizabeth (Fuller) Tomson/Thompson, Ebenezer Fuller, John, Samuel, Samuel of the Mayflower.  Image & info from Frances E. Willard & Mary A. Livermore, eds., American Women: Fifteen Hundred Biographies with Over 1,400 Portraits, Vol. II (NY: Mast. Crowell & Kirkpatrick, 1897), p. 691, digitized by the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, posted on Internet Archive.

Picture
SHEDD, HAROLD W.

Shown in the uniform of a lieutenant in the Taunton High School corps of cadets, Class of 1907, Harold (b. 1890) was a multiple Mayflower descendant thanks to his mother. (See the Eaton, Billington, and Rogers sections for those lineages. The Billington writeup has more detail and a second photo.) Harold's Gen 10 Billington line runs: Annie Leonora (Macomber) Shedd, Joseph Leonard Macomber Jr., Dordana (Godfrey) Macomber, Dordana (Pierce) Godfrey, Hannah (Canedy) Pierce/Peirce/Pearce, Elizabeth (Eaton) Canedy/Canaday/Canady/Kennedy, Elizabeth (Fuller) Eaton, Samuel Fuller, Dr. Samuel of the Mayflower. He was a 3rd cousin of L. Lucille Crapo, above. All the genealogical info was found on the New England Historic and Genealogical Society (NEHGS)'s site, American Ancestors. Cropped image from the Taunton High School Journal and Stylus (1907), p. 14, digitized on the Internet Archive.

STACKPOLE, EVERETT BIRNEY

See the writeup of his father, Everett Schermerhorn Stackpole, below, for details. Capt. Stackpole, b. 1879 in ME, served during WWI first in the Canadian military (1914-15) then in combat for the US (1915-18.) He served another 2 years and was a colonel in the PA National Guard. I looked for a WWI draft card, which would have had a physical description, but found none. He should be 35-41 years old here. Everett would be a Gen. 9 Samuel Fuller, Rogers, and Eaton descendant and a Gen. 10 Billington. Image and info from Everett S. Stackpole, History and Genealogy of the Stackpole Family, 2d ed. (Lewiston: Lewiston Journal, 1920), p. 328, digitized by the New York Public Library, and info from Everett S. Stackpole, History of Durham Maine with Genealogical Notes (Lewiston: Lewiston Journal, 1899), pp. 73-74, digitized by Boston University.

Picture
STACKPOLE, EVERETT SCHERMERHORN

Teacher, minister, and prolific genealogical/historical writer, Everett was also a Gen. 8 Samuel Fuller descendent and a Rogers, a Gen. 8 Eaton, and Gen 9 Billington descendant as well. (See those sections for the lineages.) His image is in more than one book but his history of Durham, ME and his Stackpole family genealogy give the necessary details on his own ancestors. Everett's Samuel Fuller line runs: Eliza (Macomber) Stackpole, Elijah Macomber, Thankful (Canedy/Canady/Canaday) Macomber, Elizabeth (Eaton) Canady, Elizabeth (Fuller) Eaton, Samuel Fuller, Dr. Samuel Fuller of the Mayflower. The Samuel Fuller, Eaton, and Rogers Silver Books take the line to the birth of his paternal grandfather, Elijah Macomber, who died (1849) the year before Everett was born. Presumably his mother was able to provide the remaining details. The censuses enumerate the heads of these households but the vital records of Durham are not on the NEHGS. If you wish to prove ancestry on this line you will need to get additional proof to augment the book. Since Everett was born in 1850 and his Durham, ME book was published in 1899 he was no older than 49 in this picture (which he also used in his 1920 2nd edition family genealogy.) TOBEY, EDWARD SILAS

A Generation 7 descendant of pilgrim Samuel Fuller on his mother's side, Edward (1813-1891) was also a Generation 7-8 Alden-Mullins descendant. His S. Fuller line runs: Betsey (Fuller) Tobey, Jabez Fuller, Jabez, Isaac, Samuel, Samuel of the Mayflower. The birth of Betsey in Kingston, MA 1789 and marriage to Silas Tobey are noted in both Silver Books. Cambridge, MA recorded his birth, possibly because he and his wife resided there. That record gives no parents. Edward's branch of the Tobey family was from Berkley, in Bristol County, and you really have to hunt for Berkley records. His death record confirms the details found in this book (i.e. b. Kingston, MA to Silas Tobey of Berkley and Betsey Fuller of Kingston) and given the amazing list of business and civic positions he held and apparently discharged with honor, his origins were hardly hidden or unknown. WESTON, THOMAS

Author of two Middleboro, MA histories, he was a lawyer living in Newton, MA in 1895, about age 60 in this image. He died in 1920 and his death certificate and the vital records of his family on the NEHGS site (I stopped in the early 1700s) confirm his parentage and birthplace. Thomas's namesake grandfather was a Soule, Howland-Tilley, Cooke, and Brown - see those lineages in the grandfather's writeups in those sections - but via his grandfather's wife and his father's wife this Thomas (#3) was a Samuel Fuller, Allerton, Warren, Billington, and double Hopkins descendant. See those sections for those lineages. The birth of his paternal grandmother and mention of her married name being Weston is in the Samuel Fuller silver book. Thomas's Gen 8 line runs: Thomas Weston #2, Abigail (Doggett) Weston, Simeon Doggett, Joanna (Fuller) Doggett, John Fuller, Samuel, Dr. Samuel of the Mayflower. Image and info from Two Hundredth Anniversary of the First Congregational Church of Middleboro, Massachusetts (Middleboro: 1st Congregational Church, 1895), pp. 55, 120, digitized by the Library of Congress.
